9th Annual Garden Party
Marking the 82nd anniversary of the signing of the Social Security Act, the 9th Annual Frances Perkins Center Garden Party and awards ceremony is Sunday, August 13, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Members of the board of The Frances Perkins Center will present the 2017 Steadfast Award to Kevin Concannon, Under Secretary, USDA Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services and the 2017 Open Door Award to Joelle Gamble, Director of the Roosevelt Institutes national network of emerging thinkers and doers. Concannon and Gamble are two individuals whose work exemplifies the areas of social justice and economic security, two causes to which Frances Perkins dedicated her entire career.
Guests are transported via old-fashioned trolley from Lincoln Academy (81 Academy Hill, Newcastle, Maine 04553)to the Perkins Homestead, where wine, refreshments, and light hor d'oeuvres buffet will be served amidst the beautiful landscape surrounding the estate, with all proceeds directly supporting the educational mission of The Frances Perkins Center.
