Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin
My Old Kentucky Blog and Standard Recording Company present: Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Via Audio, and Grampall Jookabox at Locals Only Art & Music Pub in Indianapolis, IN on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008. |||||||| SSLYBY is a quartet from Springfield, MO. The earnest pop band self-released its debut, Broom in March 2005. Upon its release, they sent out a few MP3s to websites and blogs, and started a tape club as a quick and easy way to distribute new material. Initially, the music resonated with a small group of critics and fans, and soon thereafter the band hit the road. However, the word of mouth began to catch on, and eventually lead to Polyvinyl Records signing the band in 2006, and rereleased Broom to even wider distribution in October of that year. They continued to tour and won over even more fans. |||||||| SSLYBY has shared the stage with the likes Catfish Haven, Mute Math, Sound Team, Chin Up Chin Up. They toured libraries with cult band Harry and the Potters, headlined a European tour and even made their way to their namesakes homeland of Russia! |||||||| The members of Via Audio discovered each other as musical kindred spirits while at college in Boston back in 2003. Within a year, the band had begun performing locally, and its self-titled EP became their calling card. In mid 2005 Via Audio began generating attention from some highly established indie rock peers. Death Cab For Cuties Chris Walla fell in love with the group after stumbling across their MySpace profile. Being dubbed Wallas favorite new band in Under The Radar was a giant boost to the bands confidence, but it was admiration from another high-profile peer (Jim Eno of Spoon) that would eventually lead to the completion their latest release. |||||||| This night will be supported by Grampall Jookabox. Think an experimental sound-collage exploration of genuine Americana songwriting - in an end product dubbed "Jungle Folk."
