Eye on Artist Lecture Series: Lisa Stirrett
Join us for a talk by Beneath the Surface artist Lisa Stirrett, who will share her history and process relating to the immersive installation on display in the Community Gallery through the summer. Reception with light food and drink in the Bistro adjacent to the artist's work will take place immediately afterward.
Stirrett has been a Northwest artist since 1987. Her business, Stirrett Glass Art Studio, features custom art pieces, awards, and large scale commercial projects created out of a variety of sculptural glass and printmaking techniques.
As an avid diver, much of Lisas work has been to recreate the splendor of the deep and its unrestrained beauty. Passion for historical and primitive pictographs or petroglyphs has also infused a flavor of distant cultures in her work. Her installation at BIMA conjures up a personal narrative unfolding in an undersea world.
