The Work Trucks
Don't miss the Work Trucks as they perform here on Thursday, June 29th at 7PM(Doors at 6:30PM).

The "Work Trucks", an alternative rock group, started as a trio. It's grown into a full,  dynamic, five-piece band. The "Work Trucks" play gigs in Portland and Hallowell monthly, intersprsed with shows at roadhouses and pubs coastally.

Brendan Lake, front man  and singer/songwriter with the "Work Trucks" , started years ago playing open mic at the former Front Street Public House in Bath.  He often played solo and became known for his earthy, yet sultry, vocals. These days, Brendan's  lyrics reflect his work ethic, his  Down-East upbringing and his observations of life as a father, husband and working man.  Years ago, as a young man, he sailed to San Francisco, the Azores and other foreign shores. At each mooring he earned his way by entertaining at local pubs. It's hard for one to speculate on  the content of his vocals in those far-away taverns.

Chris Lannon on bass guitar and Brackett Clark on keyboard  support Brendan with incredible talent. These were the original three in the band.  Lannon owned a sound production company in Boston for over thirty years prior to his move to Wiscasset.  One of his recent sound mixes was for a Carly Simon album.  Clark is a transplant from California where he played in a  band that often opened for several well-known groups on the national and international music scene.  These two can play numerous instruments between them.

The drummer and the electric guitarist are often fellow musicians who play in other bands with some of the guys from this group.  The joy and fervor with which they play  produces a rich tone to back Brendan's voice  and the harmonies of all. Brendan Lake, ever the singer/songwriter croons in "Fishin' boat":..."Let me just make a few things clear; I like drinking beer; making love all night long;  barely got time to write the song.  I work on a fishin' boat..."   A few years ago this might have summed up his life in its totality, when he was a free spirit. He is now the father of a blended family of four children with his wife, Tiffany Lee.  They own and run Live Edge  Deli and Bar at the site of the former Front Street Public House on Water St., Bath, year-round and  during the summer months they operate the Osprey Restaurant on the waterfront in  Georgetown.  So one can understand how Brendan has "barely  got time to write the song".  However, it is our good fortune he has found time to entertain us tonight.
