In the throes of political turmoil, France barely saw him coming.
The Marquis de Sade and his debauched novels spread like an ooze across the war-torn nation, until his incarceration. Having narrowly avoided beheading, the Marquis is condemned to life in the Charenton Asylum for the Insane. There, he meets an empathetic abbey, an overzealous doctor with a cruel streak, and a young laundress who knows danger when she sees it but cannot resist the urge to seek it out.
When mere imprisonment fails to slow the Marquis' quill, his paper and ink are taken from him. However, his maddened and erotic muse refuses to be silenced, and a desperate artist will use any medium, no matter how high its price.
The Alternative Arts Collective will erect intricately detailed walls, fit for the containment of a madman, in its pursuit of a place dark enough to suit the Marquis' tastes. And with stage effects nightmarish enough to satisfy even him, we suggest that you leave the children at home.
