Almost, Maine
The class of 2017 invites you to their production of ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani. A clever and heartfelt play about love and loss, connection and the inability to connect, ALMOST, MAINE opened off-Broadway in 2006 and since then has become the most frequently-produced play in American high schools and with good reason. Nine short vignettes about love (both romantic and otherwise) upend trite "rom-com" expectations, leaving us with more questions than answers. It is sometimes hilarious, sometimes tinged with deep sadness, and frequently absurd. Students have taken up design work (sets, costumes, props, and lighting), redesigning the audience seating, and music. The whole process of this production has asked students to work practically with many questions: how do we connect with another human being, or a group? What does connection even look like, and can we even recognize it when it happens?
Friday, May 19th at 7:00pm Saturday, May 20th at 2:00pm & 7:00pm
This intimate performance will take place in Hazel Hall at Seattle Waldorf High School. Seating is limited; advanced tickets are strongly recommended.
