Larisa Stow & Shakti Tribe IN CONCERT @ Idyllwild, CA!!
Larisa Stow & Shakti Tribe are creating a vibration-raising revolution with their edgy blend of mantra-infused rock.  Fronted by Los Angeles Music Award's "Singer/Songwriter of the Year" and force of nature Larisa Stow, the Tribe's music is an East meets West fusion of English and Sanskrit. Shakti Tribe is Kimo Estores on lead guitar, Benj Clarke on bass & vocals, Richard Hardy (Carole King, Dave Matthews Band, Lyle Lovett, David Lindley) on woodwinds, and the newest member Paloma Estevez on drums and percussion.

Hitting the road in two SUVs packed with people, gear and merch for 80-100 shows a year, these road warriors are committed to creating community wherever they go. Larisa's captivating style & stellar vocals combined with her band's impeccable musicianship have earned them main stage slots at numerous festivals in the USA and abroad including multiple appearances at Bhakti Fest, Earthdance, Lightning In A Bottle, Whole Being Weekend, and Bali Spirit Festival; opening act spots for well known artists; and appearances with leaders such as Nassim Haramein and Deepak Chopra. The band has played two years in a row for a crowd of 25,000+ at the Holi Festival Of Colors in Spanish Fork, Utah. The band's performance at Earthdance in Northern California ushered in the Global Peace Prayer for thousands, and their headlining performance at the opening ceremonies of the Bali Spirit Festival earned them international attention.

Shakti Tribe Headlines Groove Phest 2010

Larisa Stow made her entry into the sacred chant music world in 2005 with the album Reaching In, co-produced by Larisa and Grammy award-winner Rick Hahn (Celine Dion). Reaching In was re-released in 2007 on the Oreade Music label and subsequently received widespread airplay on XM, Sirius Satellite and Dish Network,  college and internet radio, and the track "Amba Amba" reached #6 on the New Age charts. R.J. Lanna of New Age Reporter wrote that "this album is a celebration for the spirit, no matter what path you travel. The music has rhythm, passion and reverence." Their second album The Shakti Sessions was co-produced by Counting Crows founding member Matt Malley. "Claire's Prayer" and "Heaven" (from Larisa's two solo projects Reaching Out and Moment by Moment, respectively) were featured in the critically-acclaimed Prism Award nominated film "Purgatory House" about teen suicide.  "Kali Ma", the Studio Voodoo remix off Dance Chants is part of the soundtrack in the feature film "Discover the Gift" currently screening at festivals worldwide.

Shakti Tribe Rocks at Bhakti Fest

Their new release Rock On Sat Nam! is an exquisitely crafted mix of empowered rap, rock, pop, Sanskrit, world rhythms and slamming beats. Notable friends from both the mainstream & sacred music world contributed their time and talent to this project including drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr. (Santana, Steve Winwood, Lindsay Buckingham, Chicago), Drummer Victor Bisetti (Los Lobos, Elvis Costello), pianist David Garfield (Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Boz Scaggs), master of the esraj Benjy Wertheimer (Shantala, Krishna Das, Deva Premal, Ancient Future) and tabla player Patrick Richey (Dave Stringer). "Sat Nam" translated means "Truth is Who We Are" and audiences always join in to sing this rock anthem with Larisa.

Taking to heart Gandhi's philosophy "Be the Change You Wish to See in the World,"  Larisa Stow & Shakti Tribe also give special concerts in prisons, jails, juvenile detention facilities and recovery centers where they share tools of transformation including yoga, mantra, and meditation to affect positive change, inspire personal responsibility and create Peace.

Shakti Tribe Foundation:

2007 marked the beginning of Shakti Tribe's Peace Outreach work in the prison, jail and juvenile systems. Bringing their music's messages of peace, hope and love in order to empower, transform and educate not only inmates but our communities is some of Shakti Tribe's most powerful work to date. Teaching the concepts of Onenessthat we are all connected by the invisible threads of our humanity beyond race, religion, etc.is a pivotal piece in shaping people's lives, their sense of personal value and higher responsibility. Witnessing the transformational power of their work and having the desire to continue it became so important that they formed their own non-profit organization in the summer of 2007 to help expand and grow this work.  In 2010, Shakti Tribe began adding empowering leaders and speakers to their peace concert series programs to connect people at a crossroads with positive communities around them. The Peace Programs now include workshops and peace concerts for youth as well as adults.
