Performance: Marshmallow Sea by szalt dance co.
Please join the CCA for a riveting evening of movement and performance with szalt dance co. within the Cryin' Out Loud exhibition in the Muñoz Waxman Gallery. Marshmallow Sea (szalt) is a 40 minute sequel to Zaletel's 2016 evening length, Water Stories, which premiered as part of a 5 month collaborative creative residency at MorYork Gallery in Los Angeles, CA. Marshmallow Sea begins how Water Stories ends. It dives beyond linear narrative and submits to dream logic, physical and psychological "exits", and the natural conservation of sensational memory. Jonathan Snipes (of clipping.) will perform a live sound score utilizing MaxMSP, field recordings, and a modular synth to offer a sensitive, deliberate, and familiar sonic atmosphere. Marshmallow Sea will also feature original costumes by Amabelle Aguiluz and set design by prolific recycling artist, Clare Graham. This dance for 6 women is meditative - to perform and to witness - and is rooted in the process and effort of exposing our unconscious patterns.
