Multicultural and genre-defying, Emi's unique jazz-inspired pop sound has been shaped by her bi-cultural heritageborn in Kyoto, Japan, and raised in Seattle. Her music is a refreshingly unique blend of jazz, pop, soul and much more.
At the age of six, Emi began playing classical piano and eventually expanded to jazz for the spontaneity it offered. In 2007, she won the Seattle-Kobe Jazz Vocalist Competition, a contest between the sister cities of Seattle and Kobe, Japan. Her win resulted in many performances in Japan where she has a great following. She has released three albumsCurious Creature, Passport (written solely in Japanese), Suitcase of Stones. Emi has performed at the Sundance Film Festival, been #1 on the Japanese jazz charts, and was the opening act for the Japanese tour of French-Israeli singer-songwriter Yael Naem. She has done a string of charity events to support Japan after the tsunami.

Emi's new single "Galaxy's Skirt" from her latest album will be released on Nov 28th on iTunes. Its music video was shot in tie-up with the new Canon EOS 500 camera. She will be back from Tokyo in the end of November!
