Saturday Salons: The Incidental Trio
Karen Hansen, clarinet; Sue Ruby, piano; Steve Staruch, viola
Why do violinists and flutists joke about the noble clarinet and the subtle viola? Perhaps it's because they're both capable of a certain sensual quality which their colleagues envy! Here's a chance to hear these under-appreciated instruments together: in Mozart's great Kegelstatt Trio in Eb K498, and in a contrasting trio which exploits all the sexiness of the sly underdogs of the orchestra, by living composer Eric Ewazen.
Small plates and full bar available during the concert-- dinner service begins at 430pm.
A new matinee series featuring the glorious gamut of the worlds chamber music, vocal and instrumental; from the earliest Renaissance and Baroque, through Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy and Ravel, to the 21st C, and brand-new music written just last week.
Soprano Maria Jette hosts a different combination of performers and repertoire each Saturday afternoon in the Dunsmore Room: a listening room featuring a fine 9-foot Steinway piano and cabaret seating.
