DETAILS ABOUT THE SHOWS
Saturday, August 3, 2013 World's Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist, and recent "King of the Heart" Elvis Fest recipient, Justin Shandor and his fabulous band will be presenting two concerts to benefit the Vernonia Education Foundation (VernoniaSchools.org) for athletic facilities.
In 1996 and 2007, two devastating, remarkable 500-year floods decimated the community of Vernonia, Oregon. The latter storm ruined all three schools in the district. For the next five years, students learned in modular classrooms or transferred to other schools. Thanks to hard work and generosity from the community and region, a new K-12 school was funded, built and opened on higher ground in September, 2012.
But just as the people of Vernonia pulled the last change from their pockets for this school, they noticed there were still many missing pieces to the schools. Among them are a new football field, grandstands and other athletic facilities that serve as home for the community -- gathering places that are the heart and soul of Vernonia.
The "Give Back Bash" concerts benefit Vernonia Schools athletic facilities. As sponsors of this event, the Vernonia High School Alumni of 1973 invite you to put on your "Blue Suede Shoes" and dance to the tunes of Elvis with us. Let's rock and roll and raise money so someday soon we can host a real homecoming for our kids and community!
The Vernonia Friendship Jamboree is being held this same weekend. Come out and spend the day, enjoy our lovely community and see why we've worked so hard to rebuild. Your attendance will help fund the proposed athletic facilities at our beautiful new school.
We're less than an hour from the Portland Metropolitan area. It's a beautiful drive to our little community.
