ARCHITECTURAL SKETCH WORKSHOP
This course is a component of, and preparation for, the 2013 Classical Cuba Program in Havana, The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art Florida's Classical Caribbean Committee presents a one day en plain air sketching workshop by renowned international architect and artist, Conrad Van Wyk.

"The methods and techniques introduced in the course reflect time honored traditions as well as my own personal approaches to drawing. My philosophy is that drawing should be a personal endeavor that allows an artist to demonstrate a variety of feelings and styles. Dramatic or subdued, realistic or abstract , drawing can reflect a wide array of feelings. A good drawer will develop individual methods and  techniques as part of the personal evolution and artistic interpretation. The course cannot show you how to make the image perfect but how to make it better and better."

The course starts off with an indoor studio, round the table, drawing methodology instruction. This is followed by outdoor 'en plain air' practical application in the historical fabric of St. Augustine, Florida.

Biography:
A drawing instruction handbook will be given to each participant.
Conrad Van Wyk has taught the art of sketching and watercolor within the contexts of Venice, Italy and St. Augustine, Florida and has over 30 years of experience in architecture and planning worldwide. He has studied in the office of English architect and artist Sir Hugh Casson in London and has worked with several noted international architects including James Stirling, Ralph Eskine, and Kisho Kurakawa. Mr. Van Wyk was the sole proprietor of a 40 person firm in Botswana and has programmed and designed many projects in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the United States with a practice focusing primarily on international airports.
