Like beautifully colored Faberge Eggs, Gelsey Kirkland Ballet brings another evening of Russian miniature masterworks by Petipa, Yakobson, Galeizowski and Lavrovsky.|
The evening begins with Cavalry Halt, a one act farcical comedy about what happens when the Cavalry rides into town and turns all things upside down; each officer out doing the next in competition for the beauties of the village.
Eros triptych includes the return of two Yakobson works; Eternal Spring and The Jewish Wedding as well as Galeizowskis gorgeous Melodia pas de deux.
The evening concludes with the wild Bacchanalian feast of Walpurgis Night, with its sumptuous set and its frenzied bravura dancing.
Performed by Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, May 18-21, 2017 at the GK ArtsCenter in DUMBO Brooklyn.
