Go-Go N' Show 101

Are you interested in being a shimmy shakin' machine on stage in a 60's styled go-go group dance? Do you want to learn hip and groovy moves such as the pony, the swim, the twist, and the watusi? Do you love fringe? This is the class for you! In six weeks students will learn a go-go routine from the one and only Stormy Leigh to perform* as a group at a student recital. In addition, you will create a basic costume to wear for the performance. This class does not involve any strip tease, but students must be comfortable dancing in fringe-covered bra and underwear.

While dancing a routine on stage in front of an audience looks easy, the work put into performing is extremely time-consuming. We have a limited amount of class time. Students are expected to practice the routine each week and return to the following week's workshop ready to learn new choreography.

Interested parties must be ready to work! Weekly homework assignments will be given and are integral to a successful final performance.

Since we will be mastering an entire routine in 6 weeks, attendance at all classes is mandatory, and missing classes may result in non-performance (emergencies will be handled on a case by case basis).

At the first class, costuming requirements (including boot color/style) will be explained. Fringe and sparkly trim will be provided, but students will be responsible for the cost of purchasing go-go boots and the costume base (bra-top and bottoms) in addition to the workshop price.

Workshop Cost: $180 ($100 deposit holds your spot, remaining $80 due before the first class)

*Students must meet specific standards for costume, choreography, and presentation in order to perform. These expectations will be outlined for students at the first class and referred to throughout the process. Students who do not meet the standards set forth by week 5 will not perform in the final recital, but will be given the opportunity to retake the class at the discounted rate of 50% off. By making a payment towards your registration, you are agreeing to these terms.
