This special dinner event will feature a keynote presentation on the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project by Dr. Brian Riddell, CEO, Pacific Salmon Foundation; as well as the presentation of our 3rd annual Lifetime Achievement Award in Salmon Conservation to Governor Christine Gregoire.
About Our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Brian Riddell:
Dr. Riddell is one of Canada's most respected and decorated salmon researchers and managers. CEO of the Pacific Salmon Foundation since 2009, he was formerly the Division Head for Salmon and Freshwater Ecosystems at Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
He is a member of the Advisory Board for the Simon Frazier University Leadership Committee on Salmon Conservation and Management; and an appointee to the Scientific Advisory Committee of the B.C. Pacific Salmon Forum.
Dr. Riddell has received numerous awards for his work in salmon conservation and management, including: a Canada Medal for citizenship in the community and contributions to the conservation of Pacific salmon; a Public Service Distinction Award for development of 'Canada's Policy for Conservation of Wild Pacific Salmon'; and the Deputy Minister's Prix d'Excellence Award for contributions to the Department and the Public Service of Canada.
In partnership with Long Live the Kings, Dr. Riddell is currently leading the Pacific Salmon Foundation's participation in the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project, a transboundary research effort to better understand and mitigate the causes of weak salmonid survival in the Salish Sea.
