Welcome to the second annual Cannonball! Festival of Youth Theatre. Kicking things off we are presenting a one act play by Edmonton playwright Chris Craddock. in week one. The Incredible Speediness of Jamie Cavanaugh by Chris Craddock Directed by Christian Goutsis April 27-May 6, 2017 Jamie Cavanaugh is pretty sure she has super powers, but nobody in her life seems to agree. Trouble is, her super speed is getting out of control, and if shes not careful, the super villains in her life could snatch those powers away. From the hilarious mind of Chris Craddock comes a wacky story of strength in unlikely places.
What I Stand For By Samantha Cote Directed by Paige Prystupa May 4 and 5 The natural world runs on balance and harmony. But when that balance is disrupted it can be difficult to find our way back. We are living on this planet like we have another one to go to, and its something we cant afford any longer. Follow our cast of natures colourful characters as we learn to stand up for our planet.
The Chip on Your Shoulder Written and Directed by Sophi Murias and Connor Welsh May 4 and 6 Betrayal. Romance. Gambling. Allusions to classic literature. Fancy computers. Poker chips. Shoulder chips. Potato chips. Wordplay. Professional differences. Romantic tension. It all comes together in the heist of a lifetime. Five diverse individuals must work together to bridge their differences in kinda stressful circumstances. Will they succeed? Or will they screw up and go home? No one knows.
Tech Week Written and Directed by Mya Welsh May 3 and 6 During tech week of any play, friendships are tested, curses are activated, love hecadecanonagones are revealed, and memories are made. In this play, Amber, Christy and Brian will bring you through all the emotional ups and downs of their tech week. After the newbie to theatre says the cursed M word during a rehearsal,some peculiar things start to happen: impromptu fires, chairs randomly falling apart, and strange behaviour from kids who might have had a little too much Red Bull. Will the show go on, or will the chaos distract them from getting ready for the play? Opening night is only a week away! Find out in Tech Week!
This is Not a Love Story Written and Directed by Parker Feenstra May 3 and 5 Four kids are enduring purgatory together when strange events change the perception that they had of their place of suffering. With two teenage murderers and two drivebyvictims, this chilling tale explores a strange place and even stranger happenings through a haze of unexplained events.
