Classique: An evening of favorites from Broadway, Opera, and Operetta with,"the longest running Carlotta in Broadway history," Michele McConnell!
Classique is Michele and Duanes celebration of the best Light Classical music from around the world. Contemporary classics, Operetta, Light Opera, and Broadway favorites all share the bill. We feature the hits of Bocelli, Groban, Verdi, Puccini, Strauss, Lloyd Webber and more.

BIOS OF PERFORMERS

Michele McConnell, Soprano (Lead in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Broadway)

Michele made her Broadway debut in February 2010 in Phantom of the Opera. In July 2011 she took over the role of opera diva Carlotta Giudicelli.  Currently, Michele is the Longest Running Carlotta in Broadway History.

Credits also include the National Tour of Camelot starring Robert Goulet, Beauty and the Beast in Montreal and Las Vegas, and the title role of La Perichole at DiCapo Opera.  Michele has sung many leading ladies of operetta including Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, Yum Yum in Mikado, and Patience in Patience.  

She has also performed across the country with Mobile Opera, Missouri Symphony, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Totem Pole Playhouse, Gateway Playhouse, Fireside Playhouse, Sacramento Music Circus, Allenberry Playhouse, and Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre.

Michele has traveled to over 100 countries with her husband Duane McDevitt, performing their duo act aboard the ships of Regent Seven Seas and has sung for two seasons at the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel in Interlaken, Switzerland.


Duane McDevitt, Baritone

Duane McDevitt has had a varied career in Opera, Operetta, and Musical Theatre.  Opera News called Mr. McDevitt a mellifluous Anthony (Sweeney Todd) and the New York Times hailed him a big-hearted Pirate King (Pirates of Penzance).

Signature operatic roles include Papageno in Die Zauberflote, Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, Gregorio in Romeo et Juliette, and Baron Douphol in La Traviata.  He has performed across the United States with San Diego Opera, Tulsa Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Opera Pacific, and Opera Delaware among others.  He also made his Carnegie Hall debut as soloist in Bachs Magnificat.

Duanes Musical Theatre experience includes performing the role of Lionel in the National Tour of Camelot and Ravenal in Showboat.  In addition he has performed with Sacramento Music Circus, Prince Music Theatre, Ogunquit Playhouse, Westchester Broadway Theatre and many others.

Richard Carsey, Pianist (Conductor of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Broadway)

Richard Carsey is a conductor, arranger, pianist, and actor. He is currently Conductor for the longest-running musical in history, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Broadway. National tours include Cameron Mackintoshs new production of PHANTOM in 2014-2015, the Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES with George Hamilton, and the musical LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE with Melissa Gilbert. Also on Broadway, he was Music Supervisor of THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES with Ben Stiller, and Musical Director for Joshua Schmidts musical A MINISTERS WIFE at Lincoln Center Theater. Internationally, he has performed as pianist and conductor in such exotic locales as Lima, Athens, Barcelona, Islamabad, and Kuwait. Richard enjoyed a long association with the Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, WI as Principal Conductor, and for nine seasons was Artistic Director. Highlights include the world premiere and television broadcast of Richard Wargos opera BALLYMORE; a PBS broadcast of THE MIKADO; and the world premiere of the opera THE RIVALS by Kirke Mechem. He has been guest conductor with the symphony orchestras of Kansas City, Indianapolis, Hartford, Sacramento, Panama City, and St. Louis, among others. As an actor he has appeared in over 400 performances of the play 2 PIANOS 4 HANDS at regional theaters including Dallas Theater Center, Actors Theater of Louisville, The Globe (Saskatchewan), Laguna Beach Playhouse, and Hartford Stage (Connecticut Critics Circle Award). Other acting highlights include THE BOYS IN THE BAND (Harold); TWELFTH NIGHT (Malvolio); SOUVENIR (Cosme) and OLD WICKED SONGS (Mashkin). He is a frequent conductor for Windborne Music, which presents classic rock and roll with symphony orchestras in America and Asia.
