Garrick Davis World Blues features Davis, a guitarist, vocalist and storyteller, performing mostly original music steeped in the emotional delivery and tradition of the Blues originators while stretching the foundational genre to seamlessly employ elements of Jazz, Funk, Rock, Gospel, Folk, Indian, African and Psychedelia. The audience will enjoy a revolving roster of A-List musicians as the songs require including Tony Stead(organ), CL Behrens(Trombone), Tammi Brown(vocalist), Zach Davis(keys, vocals), AJ Joyce(electric bass), Grant Slam Walthall(drums), D. Edward(percussion), Daniel Berkman(kora, handsonic), Tanmay Bichu(tabla drums) and Perry Thoorsell(acoustic bass).
The seeds of this revolving musician concert format were sown when Davis envisioned an opportunity to share the stage with players he has wanted to work with again, and some for the first time. The format also serves to create a refreshing dynamic flow for the live experience, as the audience will witness various ensembles performing electric or acoustic-based mini-sets to authenticate the broad spectrum of music genres Davis is inspired by.
This concert format was first employed in October 2016 for the ambitious House Full of Friends concert that was recorded for a new Live album and video documentary. The 11 tracks chosen for the CD are mixed, however the collection still needs to be mastered for optimum audio quality across various listening platforms.
This successful concert and a six-week Indie GoGo crowdfunding campaign launches Sunday, April 23 to raise a goal of $15,000 to complete the video documentary, and to master, manufacture and, finally, effectively market and distribute the completed project to a domestic and international audience. The funding campaign trumpets what Davis is calling his Fearless Year, a period in which he will very publicly seek to overcome that which has held him back in a concerted effort to move forward focused, more vital and productively creative than ever before - collaboration with others being key to achieve continuous growth as an artist, social activist and human being.
The concept of time passing(his father and older sister both passed in 2016 and 2015, respectively), a salute with arms wide open to peers and friends combined with a desire to make a difference in his community and the broader society makes this a Red Letter Day event where attendees and musicians-alike will dance, sway, move, and be moved to support and be involved in this artists worthy journey.
