"Goldfish Ghost"
Beloved New York Times bestselling picture book creators Lemony Snicket and Lisa Brown pair up for a new collaboration with "Goldfish Ghost", a heartwarming tale about the search for belonging.
Well-loved as the author of the hugely successful A Series of Unfortunate Events books (now a Netflix original series), Lemony Snicket brings his signature dark, weird, and just a bit unfortunate writing style to "Goldfish Ghost". Succinct and visually compelling, the combination of Snicket's text with critically acclaimed artist Browns warm visual world make this an unforgettable tale.
Goldfish Ghost was born on the surface of the water in the bowl on a dresser in a boys room. The boys room was pleasant and familiar, but Goldfish Ghost wanted company, so he set out to find a friend. He floats over the neighborhood, past the pier, and lets the breeze carry him into town where he discovers that not many people pay attention to goldfish ghosts. He floats on until, in search of the perfect home and the perfect friend, he finds belonging with an unexpected friend. Goldfish Ghost is geared toward 3-6 year olds, although we know many who purchase a ticket will be, Lemony Snicket's tried and true fans ranging in age from 7 years to 30 somethings. It will be a great opportunity to meet Lemony and his wife, Lisa Brown in person, hear them speak and ask some questions.
Lemony Snicket is the author of far too many books for children, including "The Dark", which won the Charlotte Zolotow Award, and "13 Words", which did not! Despite his best efforts, his series "All The Wrong Questions" and "A Series of Unfortunate Events" have allegedly sold more than 70 million copies and been translated into 39 languages.
Lisa Brown is the New York Times bestselling author/illustrator of a number of books for young readers including "How to Be and Vampire", "Boy's Good Night" and "The Latke That Couldn't Stop Screaming". Recently, she illustrated the critically acclaimed "Emily's Blue Period" and "The Airport Book" for Roaring Brook Press. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Daniel Handler, and their son.
