Based on the novel El Mestizo Jose Vargas, Mestizo is a Venezuelan film about a man torn between two cultures. The son of a rich White landlord and a poor Black woman, Jose Vargas is confronted by a society that imposes choices that negate his true identity and the love he feels for his mother. Mestizo is a rare Latin American race film.
