The Kiss of Peace: Music in a Time of Conflict
The debut performance of The Northstar Consort, a new choral-orchestral collective in Minneapolis, will be held on May 6 at 8pm at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.
The Kiss of Peace: Music in a Time of Conflict explores how composers have reacted to political turmoil throughout the ages. Culminating with Händel's sparkling Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate Deo written for the Peace of Utrecht in 1713, the program also explores feelings of divisiveness and fear with music by Dominick DiOrio, Stacey V. Gibbs, and others.
The Northstar Consort was founded in 2016 by its Artistic Director, Tucker Moore. The Northstar Consort is reimagining the concert experience by bringing dynamic performances of historic and new music to audiences in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Our professional chorus and orchestra are not only our local experts, but sought-after professionals worldwide.
Prior to the concert, a silent auction with items from local artists and businesses will be held in the gathering space of the church from 7:00-7:45pm. An after party will follow the performance at The Wicked Wort Brewery. Bring your ticket stub for $1 off a pint.
