Trinity House Theatre Benefit Concert and Tribute to Dave Boutette
Many venues host tribute nights to songwriting greats like Bob Dylan.  Trinity House Theatre has  joined in with past tributes to Neil Young, Bob Seger and Blind Willie Johnson.   But this time the theatre is honoring a local songwriter.  The May 5, Trinity House Theatre Benefit Concert will honor the music of Dave Boutette with performances from Peter Madcat Ruth, John Latini, Jamie-Sue Seal, Ralston Bowles, Annie and Rod Capps, and Chris McCall.  Dave will also share a few songs to wrap up the night.  The proceeds from the night will benefit Trinity House Theatre, a listening room in Livonia.  This special concert will be held at Trinity Church in Livonia (34500 West Six Mile Rd., Livonia MI 48152).

Blending many schools of American roots and popular music including folk, blues, swing, and old time country, Dave Boutette's songs testify to the power of true love, rebirth, snow plows, and migrating fish.  If you get the chance, stand next to Dave.  Besides feeling taller than you actually are, you may start to see some things in an entirely new light.

Before stepping out on his own, Boutette spent ten years with the Detroit-based alterna-rock bar kings The Junk Monkeys.  The band toured the nation relentlessly supporting such acts as The Goo Goo Dolls and Hootie and the Blowfish, while recording under the Warner Bros./Metal Blade label from 1990-93.

In 1994 Dave came to Ann Arbor and soon found himself playing open mics and farm markets for tips.  The rich and gifted Ann Arbor acoustic music scene provided an ideal environment for Dave to test his songwriting skills.

Peter Madcat Ruth is a Grammy Award-winning virtuoso harmonica player based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. But Madcat doesn't just play blues harp: he also sings and plays ukulele, guitar, high-hat, jaw-harp, penny-whistle, kalimba, banjo and other folk instruments from around the world.

Madcat's repertoire of styles includes Blues, American Roots Music, Folk Music, Jazz, and World Music.

Bottle Rocket Cabaret is the duo comprised of award winning musicians John Latini and Jamie-Sue Seal.  The pair presents a lively collection of songs and fills in the gaps with superb vocals, masterful guitar playing and vintage flair.  Often drawing comparisons to the iconic duo Delaney and Bonnie for their soulful vocals and bluesy approach, their roots-based repertoire also reveals glimpses of jazz standards, gospel, musical theater and opera house follies.

For years, Ralston Bowles has been the singer-songwriter that many aspiring musical artists would like to be.   As the widely acknowledged godfather of West Michigans acoustic music scene and champion of the Great Lakes States prodigious folk community, Bowles also has led by example: Over the past decade, hes released three highly praised and nationally acclaimed Americana studio albums (Carwreck Conversations, Rally at the Texas Hotel and Little Miracles) while touring the United States and Europe.

With a musical demeanor thats part James McMurtry, part Bob Dylan and part Steve Earle, Bowles has performed and/or toured with Walter Trout, T Bone Burnett, Lucy Kaplansky, Arlo Guthrie, Dan Hicks, Richard Shindell, Carrie Newcomer, Michelle Shocked, Andy White and many others.

Annie and Rod are on a musical journey that began in 1982, culminating into a symbiotic sound that reflects their deep and intuitive understanding of each other. Annies disarming, earthy voice and solid command of her guitar are punctuated by Rods effortless, accompaniment and beautiful solo work. Together they weave unforgettable melodies that are at once intricate and sparse  musically completing each others sentences.

Over the years, Annie and Rod have done it all; from rock to musical theater and while they continue to draw from a wide range of genres and influences, what comes out is a hybrid sound all their own. Genuine and playful; effortless and endearing; this duo has been enchanting audiences in quality music venues, house concerts, coffeehouses and festivals throughout their home state of Michigan and beyond.

Detroits Star Search winner and accomplished songwriter Chris McCall brings a unique experience to her songwriting and performances. Of her 2004 release, The Real You the Detroit News writes, Chris McCall presents a set of songs brimming with confidence and effortless depth.

Chris says, song writing is something I need to do"having always collaborated in the past, I knew it was time to be on my own. This talented singer-songwriter utilizes her myriad of musical influences and experiences in the creation of her album, Contact.
