My Life as a Green Beret (SCLL)
This class is on Wednesday, April 26th from 10am-12pm.
US Army Captain Ronald Fry, a third generation veteran, served in the 82nd Airborne Division as as a Special Forces team leader in Afghanistan.
"Hammerhead Six" is an authentic war story describing how this Green Beret's elite team won in Afghanistan's volatile Pech Valley using unconventional warfare. The team was assigned to figure out how to turn civilians away from the insurgents and terrorists hiding in Afghanistan. They also needed the people to support the Afghan government and Americans while trying to track down an Al Queda operative.
The following are quotes from Ronald Fry, our presenter: "We put ourselves in their shoes and got the people to trust us and be interested in what we represented by providing them security, helping their economy, respecting their customs, setting up a clinic and school, and doing our best to improve their lot."
"In this type of warfare, whoever has the support of the people will win the war."
"We knew that thinking beyond our guns was the only way to win over the people."
Join us to hear his story and explore the misconceptions the American public has about war in Afghanistan and what impact his experience can offer the US military in the ongoing fight against terrorism throughout the world today.
