REDRESSED: Transformational Art Against Domestic Violence
REDRESSED features the work of 24 local artists who have deconstructed and re-purposed wedding gowns and other meaningful items donated by survivors of intimate partner violence and their allies.
On June 8, 2017, the artists will showcase their work at Chase Court, a stunning Baltimore wedding and event venue. The art reception will feature live music, drinks and hors doeuvres.
Proceeds from ticket and art sales will benefit House of Ruth Maryland, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending intimate partner violence and helping survivors rebuild their lives safely and free of fear.
REDRESSED is presented by No Discipline Arts Collective, Chase Court, and House of Ruth Maryland.
Co-founded by Brigitte Winter and Dustin Bottenberger, No Discipline Arts Collective is an artist-led initiative committed to producing cross-disciplinary work that breaks down traditional boundaries between isolated artists and disciplines. No Discipline regularly hosts art-a-thons, artist socials, museum crawls, figure drawing classes, and pop-up shows benefiting local charities. Since August 2014, No Discipline has presented seven pop-up art events featuring 60 artists and writers and benefiting causes including the ALS Foundation, the Kristin Rita Strouse Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Young Playwrights Theater, Shirley's Boxer Rescue, and Columbia Writers. House of Ruth Maryland leads the fight to end violence against women and their children by confronting the attitudes, behaviors and systems that perpetuate it, and by providing victims with the services necessary to rebuild their lives safely and free of fear.
