Effects of Female Peer Role Models on Students Experiences in STEM
This presentation and panel discussion highlights a peer role model program implemented at San Diego State University (SDSU) to improve women and ethnic minorities experiences in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Learn about a peer role model program and present empirical findings showing how peer role models can positively affect students in real world math classrooms. Then, hear from the research team along with one of our peer role models (i.e., a math-talented female student from SDSU) who will detail how a peer role model program is implemented.
Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for discussion with the audience about broadening underrepresented students participation and persistence in STEM.
This event will be held at the Fleet Science Center. Please enter through the Community Forum on the south side, the side closest to the parking lot. The Community Forum is located to the right of the Business Entrance.
