2017-03-15 PMI Honolulu, Hawaii Chapter Meeting: Real World Elicitation
The BABOK may give us the science behind requirements and the PMBOK can guide us through the steps of a project, but the true art comes in the form of elicitation and working with real people to draw out the business needs beyond their immediate wants.
In this session we will learn step-by-step approaches and useful tips and techniques to ensure you are not only able to gather requirements, but you begin to engage your stakeholders at a higher level where they want to take on more ownership to produce more meaningful outcomes.
Leveraging industry standards, attendees will gain insights in new ways to apply old techniques to gain quick value and buy-in from your audiences.
This session is applicable to not only business analysts, but also project managers and any other professional who has to lead a change effort, especially with cross-functional teams that require significant collaboration. How do you get everyone on the same page? The tried and true methods may still work for many instances, but what about when things are not working or going the way you planned? How do you get your stakeholders to see ideas and try new things? The goal of the session is to give attendees a few more tools (and even a few tricks) to add to their tool box regardless their job title or position on a team or in an organization.
