STAND the movie
The event will feature a presentation by Norm Hann come hear about his expedition and conservation efforts for the Great Bear Rainforest and a screening of his award winning documentary "STAND"
The Great Bear Rainforest is one of the most incredible marine and terrestrial ecosystems found anywhere in the world. This area contains unique and diverse wildlife, intact First Nations culture and thriving tourism industries. In 2010 standup paddle boarder Norm Hann, along with sea kayaker Brian Huntington of the Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition, paddled the proposed oil tanker route 400km from Kitimat to Bella Bella. The goal of the Standup4GreatBear Expedition was to bring awareness to the threat of these oil tankers in the Great Bear Rainforest and to highlight the traditional food harvesting areas of the First Nations people along the route.
All proceeds will be donated to the Standup4GreatBear Society and the Secret Beach invasive knotweed eradiation effort
