Youth Theatre Winter Workshops
Acting: Creating a Character (grades 3-8)
December 18, 5:00pm-8:00pm, $25
The youth actor will discover how to build a dynamic character, establish an environment, and make strong creative choices. Using improvisation and scene work, the actor will learn principles and techniques of characterization by using his or her senses to develop characters. The actor will concentrate on the imaginative process while developing individual characteristics of a dramatic role. The actor will develop the skills and freedom necessary to react spontaneously and honestly moment to moment.
Acting: How to Audition(grades 3-8)
January 10, 5:00pm-8:00pm, $25
Youth actors will learn about what directors are looking for in an audition. This workshop deals with the fundamentals of acting, movement, voice, and interpretation, and how they are related to the audition process. Youth actors will also receive tips on how to impress directors and calm nerves in an audition. Also, participants will get to practice cold readings for our upcoming spring production of Disney's The Little Mermaid.
