Forgiveness. Compassion. Love. Attention to detail. These are the qualities that distinguish the work of these two songwriters.
Buffalo's Davey O is equal parts storyteller and music maker. His intimate, Americana ballads combine a journalists eye for a good story and a poet's ability to read between the lines. He is a rare voice for the struggling, everyday people of this world--not filtered through legend or tradition, but as actually and personally experienced. His latest release, an EP entitled No Passengers, was included among the Top 100 Contemporary Folk Albums on The Roots Music Report, was picked as a Best Of CD by six radio stations across the U.S.
With banjo, guitar and accordion, Canadian artist Linda McRae delivers raw, honest reflections on hardship in a warm and world-weary voice. Her unforgettable melodies and thought-provoking lyrics make her a captivating and sought-after artist. Fernando Pinto says "One song breaks your heart, the next one puts it back together." Following decades of touring as a full-time musician, Linda has devoted the last few years to training prisoners and at-risk youth in the art of songwriting. It has just been announced that she is to be inducted into the British Columbia Music Hall of Fame. This will be her first performance at Caffe Lena.
