OUTER FACES, INNER VOICES
FEATURING: WITH FULL VOICE - by LaWanda Raines The presentation of this work was made possible in part by The 2016 Space Microgrant of Dogtown Dance Theatre. LaWanda premiered a portion of this peice as part of her Thesis Project upon receiving her M.A in Dance from St Mary's College, CA. This peice explores the internal battle of those suffering with different types of addiction, depression and mental illness. LaWanda's unique style of storytelling through dance brings light to this issue on many levels with hopes to create positive change and support for those suffering with these battles. THE MASQUERADE - by Kelly Hamlin This newly created work is a look into the everyday facade many people play out while silently battling the effects of Depression. The Choreographer creates a world onstage reflected as a Masquerade Ball that exposes various personas people tend to hide behind while conflicted with their true emotional state. A portion of the proceeds will go to Feedmore.org. Bring a canned good or perishable item to the show and recieve $2 off your ticket price. All donations will go to the Central Food Bank of VA.
