Special Benefit Screening - White Night and A Demonstration in the White City:
This event includes a pre screening reception, 2 Documentaries and a presentation by the Director after the screenings Wednesday 3-22 the CTN Studio

In the context of evolving attitudes about refugees and immigrants, we present two stark and immediate documentaries that illuminate a population that is often hidden in the shadows.

This event will start with a gathering including Rising Tide Beer, Vena's Fizz House non-alcoholic beverages and Middle Eastern snacks).    Following the screenings, there will be a discussion with Tal Haim Yoffe, the director of A Demonstration in the White City.  

Admission for this special event is $15 and includes the reception and a contribution to benefit In Her Presence, a non-profit organization that supports immigrant and refugee populations in Maine.

White Night  / Documentary / Dir: Irit Gal / 2012 Israel / Arabic, Hebrew w/English subtitles / 47 min

Shot with a hand held camera,  the film follows Arab domestic laborers living in the Occupied Territories as they maneuver their lives between the men who forbid them to work and the Israeli soldiers who pursue them , all while encouraging and protecting each other on the trail.

A Demonstration in the White City / Documentary / Dir: Tal Haim Yoffe / 2015 Israel / Hebrew w/English ST /  48 min

This documentary jewel provides an education about Israels political and cultural history told in the context of a peaceful demonstration by 10,000 Sudanese and Eritrean asylum seekers, joined by Israelis,

Following the films Israeli filmmaker Tal Haim Yoffee will discuss his documentary.

This program will be presented at Railroad Square in Waterville on Sunday 3-19 at Noon.


**Ticket-holders should arrive 15 minutes early  to guarantee seating.  In the event that the film sells out, standby seating will be available for all screenings on a first come-first serve basis.
