| Description |
On March 14th the Little Red Studio will celebrate the bold spirit of creative foment in 19th and early 20th century Vienna. The center piece of the evening will be the presentation of several heroic piano works by Franz Schubert, Liszt and Chopin by acclaimed pianist Arthur Kostuk. The evening will begin with a performance of Franz Schmidt's gorgeous and too little heard first piano concerto. There will also be a performance of Viennese Waltz by some of LRS's own accomplished dancers.
At intermission and afterwards there will be delicious traditional Viennese treats and coffee provided by LRS chef Kim in the tradition of the Austrian coffee houses that were the "stage" for so many fantastic artistic presentations from Bach to Beethoven. The presentation will also include a brief description of the paintings prepared in the style of the Viennese Decadents, Gustav Klimpt and Egon Shiele by LRS's founder Jeff Hengst.
The evening will end with a waltz performed by Mr. Kostuk on piano. The audience will be welcomed to join performers in dancing. Afterwards there will be more dancing and lively conversation. The music, art, dancing and treats are going to be fantastic.
This will be an evening of intelligent, elegant and spirited entertainment. And, in the tradition of Little Red Studio, a night where you can sit quietly and watch, or get on your feet and be part of the act. This is music that was made to be danced to!
Come experience the connection between restless revolutionary and the erotic that were so much a part of the Viennese spirit and have been such a source of inspiration for the Little Red Studio.
Guests are encouraged to come in period costume. Serafina will be providing our wine bar. Admission is $20 and seating is limited to the first 100. This is for one night only.
Arthur Kostuk is known as the "silver bullet" because his fingers move at amazing speeds. Kostuk has studied with Fulbright scholars and at the University of Vienna and Salzburg, Austria. He has won first place at the Israel Piano Competition. He has played at concert halls in New York, Boston, Montreal, Long Island, Seattle and St. Louis. He has also played at the prestigious Teton Music Festival to name just a few. His Eastern European style includes a high level of broad sweeping melodies combined with passion and emotional intensity. A truly amazing classical pianist!
