Mandolins on Rittenhouse Square: Munier Mandolin Orchestra and the Aonzo & Izquierdo Duo
The concert features Philadelphia's own Munier Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra, along with special guest mandolin and guitar duo Carlo Aonzo and Rene Izquierdo. Aonzo is widely regarded as one of the foremost classical mandolin virtuosos of our time. For more information on Carlo Aonzo and his music, visit: https://www.carloaonzo.com/. For more information about Rene Izquierdo, visit http://www.reneizquierdoguitar.com/. For more information about the Munier Orchestra, visit www.munierorchestra.org.
The Munier Orchestra - a 20-piece ensemble consisting of mandolin, mandola, mandocello, classical guitar, and double bass - will perform an eclectic program during the first set. The second set will feature Aonzo and Izquierdo performing an array of classical works composed or arranged for mandolin and classical guitar. The duo and orchestra will join together for the final selection (and the most famous of all classical mandolin works) Vivaldi's Concerto for Mandolin in C Major.
