The Broomfield Council on the Arts and Humanities presents ASTER Women's Chamber Choir in "Bésame Mucho: A Salute to Four Iconic Women of Song".
ASTER's mission is exploring women's lives and music, and this concert does just that. Learning about the lives of Edith Piaf, The Incomparable Hildegarde, Consuelo Velázquez, and Mahalia Jackson will give the audience a greater understanding of the songs which were the soundtrack for our mothers and grandmothers.
The concert includes solos, small ensembles and choral settings of Edith Piaf's French Cabaret songs "La Vie en Rose", "Padam, padam", "Les Trois Cloches" and "Mon Manege a moi"; pieces recorded by Mahalia Jackson "Come Sunday", "His Eye is On the Sparrow", "Consideration", and "God Put a Rainbow in the Sky"; Spanish songs composed by Consuelo Velazquez "Besame Mucho", "Chachito" and "Amar y viver" and World War II gems by The Incomparable Hildegarde "Darling, je vous aime beaucoup", "I was in the Mood", and "I'll See You Again".
We hope to bring back good memories for our older audience members and introduce a new generation of listeners to these classic and very popular tunes from the past.
