Description
Wilderness 2008 begins Thursday evening of April 3rd at Kane Hall on the UW campus with a FREE presentation of photographs by Gary Braasch, Environmental Photo-Journalist, as Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World. You can attend by registering for this free evening and the following conference events.

On Friday and Saturday, the conference moves to the Mountaineers Building. The conference looks at some of the changes happening in the world and their impacts on wilderness preservation. There are sessions discussing the problems facing preservation, how to be an effective advocate, and on delivering the message of wilderness values.

The Saturday Night Banquet Speaker is Steven Brown, the Editor of Arctic Wings, a beautiful Mountaineers Books publication on arctic birds. He will speak on the importance of the arctic as a nursery to many of the worlds birds. Other featured speakers include Bill Meadows, President, The Wilderness Society; Alaskan Roger Kaye, Wilderness Specialist, US Fish & Wildlife Service; Dennis Martinez, a Native American, and author on forest restoration. Tom OKeefe, Chair, Mountaineers Division of Recreation Resources;
