Against a fairy-tale backdrop of sexual fetishes, Catherine attempts to lose herself in the worlds of religion, adolescent fantasy and, finally, masochistic service to one man. Among her adventures in search of devotion, Catherine is presented first as a novitiate nun subject to the attentions of a twisted priest and a Mother Superior dominatrix, then locked away in the Blackheart Castle, sacrifice at dawn intended to be her fate and, finally, the suburban wife of a successful plastic surgeon (or is he?), undergoing a series of ordeals that will prove her selfless sublimation to his desire.
