Is Venice sinking? Global warming is causing an increase in the sea level and, in the meantime, the land in the lagoon is subsiding. Floods cause both immediate and long-term harm: a pair of Wellington boots may not be sufficient to move on foot and boats may not manage to pass under bridges. Most Venetians are placing their hopes on the Modulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico, an experimental project in the final stages of construction.
