Free "Dental Culture for Healthy Hearts" Screenings Offered In celebration of American Heart Month
In celebration of American Heart Month, a Bellevue holistic dentist is offering free community Dental Culture for Healthy Hearts oral screenings for the bacteria associated with cardiovascular disease every Tuesday in February. Dr. Alireza Panahpour is offering the screening as a convenient, no-cost reminder for everyone to consider the status of their heart health at least as regularly as they get their teeth cleaned. For a complimentary Dental Culture for Healthy Hearts appointment, call 888-338-6336 or email info@systemicdentist.com

These open-to-the-public events will include a front-row seat viewing the dance-like gyrations of live bacteria of all shapes and sizes from your own teeth and gums, via a microscope connected to a 24-inch monitor next to the dental chair. A hygienist will show each patient how the number and types of bacteria in their mouth compares to charts that help to establish if your oral bacteria level is low, medium or high, and which types of bacteria are observed.

Community members participating in the screening will be offered the opportunity to take home a digital video displaying the live action of the bacteria in their own mouth as well as educational materials about heart-healthy habits from the American Heart Association. Those with high levels of oral bacteria will also prompted to seek the advice of their MD or ND for more tests and information about their heart health.

Scientists agree that there is an unexplained association between gum disease and heart disease, said Dr. Panahpour. A test like this this is not intended as a replacement for regular medical check-ups and a lifestyle that promotes heart health, rather it reminds everyone to prioritize a healthy lifestyle and taking control over proven cardiovascular health risk factors such as smoking, obesity, and stress.
