Tret Fure Concert Superior, WI
Tret Fure began performing music at the age of 5, composing her own songs on the piano and showcasing them to older students through her instructor. This began a love of music, composition and performance. At 16 she was playing guitar and singing at any folk venue she could find in the university town in which she lived, performing the works of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tom Paxton and Joni Mitchell. By the age of 19 she was writing her own songs and by the time she was 21, she had penned the single for Spencer Davis' album "Mousetrap". This led to her own album, her first collection of 10 songs released on MCA Records in 1973, an album simply called "Tret Fure".
As of 2012, she has released 13 critically acclaimed bodies of work that span her 40 years in music. She has crossed all genres of music, from folk to punk to new wave, rock to pop rock and back to folk where her true heart resides. She has worked in the mainstream and alternative, including the genre known as "Women's Music".
In the 90s, while working with Cris Williamson, Tret became involved in teaching her craft and has gone on to hone her skills as a teacher, offering her expertise in songwriting and the craft of word and music. In her words, she likes to "help you find the song of your heart and the heart of your song".
