Status and physicality
Workshop Details During the workshop with Mario Müller you are going to learn mostly two things:
Firstly: Physicality
Theater-legend Peter Brook said that actors need to make a connection between their imagination and their body. Your body always knows the truth. If you can read it, like the audience does, you always play naturally and the characters you embody are true and credible and funny. So the most work goes into creating different physical foundations for characters.
Secondly: Status
Energy, dominance, aggression these are some of the first associations that come to mind when we learn about status play. And there is more to it than establishing status for a character on stage. An essential step in the development of an improviser is the transition from playing status to living and embodying status. Once you have the difference in your bones and understood that status is almost never transported in verbal messages, you enter the sphere of people that are able to move audiences and humans in general both on stage and off-stage. Establish protagonists, play on the emotional chords of the audience and let them burst into laughter without thinking about it.
