The Rich Keene Fundraiser Event
Envision a multitude of fabulous musicians pulling together and putting on an unprecedented all-star musical extravaganza!!! All coming together to support Rich as he works to make his way back from Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and what it has done to his body.
Rich started playing live music 50 years ago beginning in Mechanic Falls, Maine, 14 years in Colorado, a stint in Japan and back to Maine in the mid 90's. Attending Berklee College of Music followed by over 40 years of teaching thousands of students guitar, banjo, mandolin, and ukelele has made Rich a sought after musician often playing the 'figure-it-out-music-man' for many! You can imagine the fear and desolation when Rich's fingers started 'not working.' The type of cancer Rich is dealing with can damage nerves in various areas of the body. In Rich's case it's been mostly in his hands and feet, and some in his abdomen. He no longer plays live music, but with his experience and knowledge of music he is still able to teach part-time, as he fatigues easily. He still has quite a road ahead of him and we continue to hope for a full recovery!
Come and see incredible performances by fine musicians and friends that Rich has played with or has come to know in his musician's journey: Denny Breau, Dave Rowe, Arlo West, Tom Dyhrberg, Schooner Fare, Deb Morin, Peter Allen, Ruth Hill, Brooke Morin LaChance, Fender-Bender, Cold Fusion, Forefront, Frank Coffin, Malinda Liberty, Mike Atkinson, Satori (Chuck Thornton's fusion trio), Mike Giasson, Peter Knight, and Kathy Haley, to name a few! Put on your dancing shoes and you won't be disappointed. A rich blend of classic rock, country, folk, fusion, jazz. Emcees Peter Allen and Deb Morin will humor and keep you delightfully entertained!
There will also be a live auctioneer auctioning off an acoustic guitar that will be signed by all performing musicians. A silent auction will be held in an adjoining room with an opportunity to find some very cool and interesting items. This is a BYOB establishment and non-alcoholic drinks and food will be available for sale (prepared by the incredibly talented Dee Dee Record Allen)! This is a family friendly event (children 12 and under are free) and we sure hope you come out to support Rich and have some serious FUN!
See you there!
