Haydn LORD NELSON MASS & West Coast Premiere of the Mack Wilberg REQUIEM
Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano San Juan Capistrano, CA
One of twelve Masses written by Haydn, the Nelson Mass is considered by many to be his most dramatic, transporting the listener from feelings of utter despair in the opening Kyrie to a great and certain joy in the final Dona Nobis movement. Although not in the traditional Requiem format, Mack Wilberg, the Associate Music Director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, has created a new and very moving, introspective and poignant variation, drawing his inspiration from Brahms and Vaughan Williams. Don't miss this west coast premier!
