The first annual Maui BlissFest 2012 is the culminating event of the Summer of Peace. We dreamed of creating a peaceful gathering for the island to come together to share our art, our love for Maui, and our bliss with one another and the world! This is our celebration; an opportunity to gather together, honoring Maui, and the all that our island inspires.
Maui BlissFest 2012 begins Friday, September 21st on the International Day of Peace at 3:00 pm and runs through Saturday, September 22nd at 9:00 pm. and will be held at the VFW Hall, Oceanfront Kihei, at 1136 Uluniu.
Dawn of the Dharmic Day ~ A Spiritual Oasis, is hosting the two-day festival. As part of the International Peace Day celebrations around the world, we will be broadcasted along with festivals throughout 103 countries with over 3 million viewers worldwide, through The Shift Network and PeaceDay TV.
Our vision is to create an affordable, diverse, representation of arts and culture on a local and global scale as a gift to our island and a chance to showcase our local talent and Aloha spirit. Tickets for the event are available online at mauiblissfest.com ~ $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. The price includes camping overnight on Friday.
There will be a diversity of local talent: George Kahumoku, Jr. (slack key master), Tara Dhatu Dancers, Harmonic Resonance, Makena Drummers, Zenshin Daiko (keiki Taiko drummers), Jaiia Earthschild, Gaia Best, SiMpY TwIsTeD with Jamie Gallo, Little Gryphon, The Eazy, Makena Fire Dancers, Rhythm Matrix,fresh from L.A.'s Agape - Michael Wormuth, and more.
Dharmic Day is a non profit 501(c)3 organization, and the event doubles as a fundraiser for the Spiritual Center, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Women Helping Women, Maui's Domestic Violence Shelter.
Maui BlissFest 2012 was the brainchild of Rev. Amber Lightfoot, Pastor of Dharmic Day ~ and was inspired by her return home to Maui from the Big Island in July"Maui IS my bliss, and as a Mayanist, 2012 is the most powerful year of prophecy ~ I am honored to celebrate peace, unity, harmony and bliss on Maui, which embodies Paradise to me. As the multitude of events span the globe, beginning in New Zealand, it is auspicious that Maui will be the final Celebration time zone. Let's do Maui proud!"
