Hazel Royer & the Royer Family Band Record Release / Former Sunday Burren Band
Hazel Royer is a 15 year old Boston native currently attending Boston Latin High School. She's the bassist for both Boston Latin Big Band and the Boston Latin Gospel Choir.
Hazel has been around musicians her whole life. Tim Gearan, Sean Staples, Jimmy Ryan, Dave Westner are all close family friends of her mom and dad. Her dad, Eric Royer, is an accomplished folk musician most known for his Eric Royer One Man Band Guitar Machine, and as being 1/4 of Monday Night Bluegrass (with Sean Staples, Jimmy Ryan and Dave Westner), who perform at Atwood's Tavern every Monday night.
Hazel performed at The Burren every Sunday for years with her dad, Staples, Westner, Gearan, and Daniel Kellar, collectively known as the Sunday Burren Band. It's this same band, now known as the (Former) Sunday Burren Band, that will share the bill with Hazel. Hazel plays first, The Former Sunday Burren Band will close the night.
This show celebrates Hazel's first album of original songs featuring Hazel singing and playing bass, her dad on guitar and Chris Anzalone on drums. The record was produced by Dave Westner, so as you can see, this is truly all about family!
Hazel's influences are everyone from Jonathan Richman to Hazel Dickens.
