My Name was Mom
In her readers theater piece, "My Name Was Mom", A. Daughter portrays the indomitable spirit of her mom, who is struggling with dementia, during the last three years of her life. As her primary caregiver, the performer also shares the complexities of dealing with confounding health care providers and difficult family members, as she strives to provide her mom with as much comfort and care as possible. In addition, she uses music and other methods to connect to her mom, when words cease to have meaning for her.
