McNeill, Brennan & Gearan
A native of Derry City, Ireland, Christian McNeill is a force of alternative rock and soul, renowned for gritty and passionate live shows and songs with memorable lyrics anchored in infectious melodies. If you trace his career arc back to his early days with post-punk band, Schtum, to his most recent project, Sea Monsters, you will hear a style of singing and songwriting that is ever-evolving and always engaging. The uncompromising honesty of the song Zero caught the ear of Steven Van Zandt, who in turn placed two songs from the 2013 album Everythings Up For Grabs, in heavy rotation on his globally broadcast, Underground Garage. His new release "Trapped On The Planet - Part One" released Spring 2016.
Boston has a music legacy that needs no introduction. Think of the J. Geils Band, Morphine, and Willie Alexander for starters. At the heart of the scene, though, is an artist like Dennis Brennan. He's a cagey veteran who hasn't won similar fame but can electrify audiences with his ability to cross brilliantly from rock to soul, blues, country, and jazz, while breathing fresh life into each. On several nights a week, Brennan bops around New England clubs with a passion that is all too rare in today's homogenized music climate.
Aficionados and acolytes of the music swirling around and through Tim Gearan. Tim is the down-the-block troubadour who hangs back while being upfront in his permanent 10 pm shadow and duffers cap. His music is as real and true as the pain in your heart when loss is all you have left. However, if sorrow is not on your compass rose, talk to your soul and you will find Tim's voice in your chorus.
Dave Westner on bass, John Aruda on Sax and Mike Piehl on drums round out the band.
