A Life in the Theatre, Fund Raiser for MCTA Scholarship Fund
It is often said that art imitates life, and that's exactly what happens when father and son, Mark Shilstone-Laurent and Brady Shilstone, take the stage with David Mamets classic, "A Life in the Theater." Staged at Carmels Carl Cherry Center for the Arts, the performances will be a fund raiser for Monterey County Theatre Alliance (MCTA)'s Scholarship Fund. The show will run from January 20th to January 29th.
The play tells the story of an aging actor nearing the end of his ho-hum career, and his young protégé for whom the sky seems to be the limit. As the play progresses, as they move through a variety of productions, and gradually their relationship changes.
Reviewers said ""A comedy about the artifice of acting... It is also about the artifice of living... An evening of pure theatre." - The New York Times and "A comic masterpiece." - New York Daily News"
All proceeds from the show will go to the Monterey County Theatre Alliances Student Scholarship Fund.
