Hello I'm: Nancy Ma's Solo Piece
The Whitefire Theatre Solofest is the largest one-person show festival on the West Coast. Nancy Ma is excited to premiere her debut solo show, "Hello I'm" at Solofest 2017 on Friday, January 20.
Come enjoy an evening of storytelling and community, drinks & food.
Doors open at 7:45PM. Show begins at 8:00PM. "Hello I'm" is a 70 minute show with no intermission. After the show, there'll be a short Q&A followed by a reception at the theater.
Street Parking on Ventura Blvd., Moorpark St., Dixie Canyon Ave., Woodman Ave. It can be tough to find parking so I recommend getting there early! Be careful of No Parking at 6PM signs. There are a ton of amazing restaurants in the neighborhood. Make a night of it!!
About the show: Nancy is a first generation Chinese American girl. She is taught success comes from being the best, being strong and relying on no one. "Hello I'm" follows Nancy as she lives out what she's taught and survives the mess she creates.
About the team: Nancy Ma (Writer, Performer) grew up on the streets of Chinatown and the Lower East Side in New York City. She is a first-generation American. She wants her storytelling to empower others, especially women, youth and POC, to share their own stories. Nancy cares deeply about education and arts access equality, oral history, laughing and sharing food.
Jessica Lynn Johnson (Director), awarded Best National Solo Artist by the Dialogue One Festival, has toured internationally with her solo shows for nearly a decade. She currently teaches solo theatre development through her company Soaring Solo at the Whitefire Theatre. Johnsons clients have been seen in the Hollywood Fringe Festival, the United Solo Theatre Festival in NYC, the LA Womens Theatre Festival, and many others!
