Extreme Weather Educator Evening!
Join us for a fun (and free!) evening for educators at the FLEET SCIENCE CENTER!
The Educator Workshop portion of the evening is available to our first 50 RSVPs. It is open to any educator (formal, informal, administrator, etc.) You'll receive VIP registration for the workshop, which delves into exploring extreme weather and related phenomena. Workshop attendees will also receive lessons that can be used in grades K-12 (NGSS connections). After the workshop, you'll join fellow attendees to enjoy the IMAX film "Extreme Weather!"
*Workshop is scheduled to start promptly at 5:00 PM.
*You will enter through our BUSINESS ENTRANCE
*After the workshop has concluded, you will be guided into the museum Theater Lobby for refreshments.
If you can't make it to the workshop but still want to attend the IMAX film portion of the evening, no problem at all. Please RSVP today and invite your coworkers, too!
*Refreshments are scheduled from 6:30-7:00 PM.
*IMAX film is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
EXTREME WEATHER IMAX DESCRIPTION:
Weather is one of the most dynamic forces shaping our planet, but now it's more extreme and complex than ever. National Geographic's Extreme Weather takes us to the edge of 300-foot tall glaciers collapsing, to the front lines of massive wildfires and directly in the path of deadly tornadoes. Follow researchers and everyday heroes as they uncover surprising connections that can help us understand and adapt to our ever-changing weather.
Travel to Alaska, to the splash zone at the face of Dawes Glacier, aboard a boat custom-designed to get as close as possible to the calving ice.
Race across the farm roads of the Heartland to place pods of sensors inside a tornado.
Battle infernos with firefighters in California.
And ... find out how all of these phenomena are related.
