Maricopa Music Circle - Holiday Serenade 2016
Holiday Serenade 2016 offers delightful Christmas treats such as carols and Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. These are balanced by luxurious arrangements tailored specially for the orchestra, such as Irving Berlin's White Christmas, along with other music that celebrates the holiday's reflective mood as well as its splendor and joy. Other concert features include two solo turns performed by soprano Theresa Judkins, including the glittering "Rejoice, rejoice greatly" from Handel's masterpiece oratorio Messiah, movements from Maurice Ravel's orchestral version of his own haunting Tombeau de Couperin featuring that composer's favorite instrument, the oboe. Plus the regional premiere of J. S. Bach's entire Brandenburg Concerto No. 4.before the evening closes in celebration with the well-known "Hallelujah Chorus"!
